Before filing a complaint with BBB you should contact the business at least once to give them an opportunity to resolve the issue. However, you are not required to contact the business first. Does your complaint allege a criminal act?
Is your complaint regarding a matter that is currently in litigation or has already been filed with the court system?
Does your complaint concern employment practices – examples may include issues regarding pay/wages, hours, discrimination, or safety?
Does your complaint concern non-employment related civil rights or discrimination concerns?
Is your complaint about a government agency?
Does your complaint concern a landlord/tenant issue?
Does your complaint concern issues regarding the competency of a healthcare professional or attorney?
Is your complaint based solely on dissatisfaction of the price?
Is your complaint against individuals who do not operate a business establishment – examples include persons who sell through classified ads such as Craigslist or eBay?
